Route 28 Arga River Trail

  • Departure: Burlada
  • Distance: 7,45 km
  • Unevenness: 50 m

TRAIL BY THE SHORES OF THE ARGA RIVER AS IT PASSES THROUGH PAMPLONA. IN THIS PEDESTRIAN WALK, AS A RESULT OF THE RECOVERY OF IMPORTANT SECTIONS OF RIBERA, VARIOUS TREE SPECIES, RIVER BIRDS AND A STRONG AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITY COEXIST. PATH NOT BEACED, BUT EASY LAYOUT.

The beginning is at the Beloso bridge, at the entrance to Burlada. Along the right bank of the river and following the pedestrian path you reach the Magdalena meander, with fertile orchards and cattle farms. Thus we arrive at the foot of Old Iruña and the silhouette of its walls and the tower of the cathedral. The itinerary offers two variants: the right bank or the left bank, crossing the river by some footbridges. Both variants meet on the left bank of the medieval Magdalena bridge, where the Camino de Santiago (GR-65, red-white and yellow beacons) ascends to the old town. The river path, however, goes through a new meander, that of Aranzadi, passing next to the Parque de las Cañadas. After a stretch of orchards and crossing the San Pedro bridge, we approach the foot of the walled city again. The walk continues along the right bank of the Arga, next to the Oblatas pier, away from the old town of Pamplona. After crossing the medieval bridge of Santa Engracia and the more modern of Cuatro Vientos, you enter a landscaped area with a dam and mill on the banks of the river, to reach the bridge of San Jorge, the end of the route.
